Job Description:

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Overtime, Weekend, Day, Night, Evening

Salary: $24 Hourly, 50.00 Hours per/week,

Other Benefits: 4% Vacation pay

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Education: Secondary school diploma preferred, but not required.

Experience: Heavy duty driving experience is an asset, but not required.

Language: Basic English / Functional English is required.

Credentials (certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.):
Driver’s License (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement required.

Type of Trucking and Equipment:
Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles), Tractor-trailer, Flatbed, Refrigerated, Highway.

Type of Travel:
This position is for Long-haul heavy truck driving, routes vary considerably; routes include travel through the Province of British Columbia & Alberta, all across Canada, (BC, AB, SK, MB, and USA). Travel may also be through other areas in Canada and the United States. Travel through various towns, cities, and districts in Canada and the United States.

Documentation Skills:
Applicants must be willing to learn how to review, input data into, and understand the following documents; driver logbook, bill of lading, inspection report, pre-trip/on-route/post-trip, trans-border documentation, and maintenance/repair reports, & trip reports.

Communication Equipment:
Applicants must be willing to learn how to use the following equipment. Citizens band (CB) radio, Cellular phone, Satellite tracking (GPS) equipment

Weight Handling:
Up to 45 kg (100 lbs.)

Specific Skills:

  • The ability to operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials,
  • Loading and unloading of goods, tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo,
  • Plan travel schedules and routes,
  • Use atlases and other trip planning aids,
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatcher,
  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy,
  • Pay and receive payments for goods,
  • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment

Security and Safety:
Basic security clearance, Criminal record check, Driving record check (abstract), Medical exam, Drug test

Transportation/Travel Information:
Willing to travel all across Canada and the United States. Willing to travel by day/evening/night including travel on overnight routes, willing to travel for extended periods of time.

On the Job training for any applicants in Canada who hold a valid Class 1 Driver’s License and who are successfully hired.

Other:
Candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada and must be willing to drive long haul trucks as a two-person team.
