Summary of Duties:

Summary of Duties: Under direction of the Housekeeping and laundry Manager, the Housekeeping Aide follows established routines and procedures to perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, dusting and polishing in residents’ rooms, bathrooms and public areas such as lounges, activity rooms, dining rooms and offices. Also empties waste-baskets and makes residents’ beds. When operationally required, perform laundry duties. Perform other related duties as below:

• Labelling of resident clothes including printing of Labels.
• Washing of resident window curtains and minor mending
• Extra disinfecting as required
• Additional related duties as required
• May be re-assigned to cover other areas as per operational needs

Required Qualifications:

Grade 10 plus one year’s recent related experience in a commercial or industrial laundry, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Essential skills and abilities includes: ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; ability to deal with others effectively; ability to organize work; ability to operate related equipment; and physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
